15 Ways To Self Care This Spring

The snow has melted, the birds are chirping and winter is finally making room for spring. Even though the days are lengthening and warming I still think it's important to take care of ourselves in any way that we might need. The change of seasons is always a good time to reflect on what is working in your life and what isn't. And of course it's a great time to make some small changes or habits in your life that will make you feel happier and less stressed. I know that the term "self care" is widely used, and maybe even a bit over used, but I think it's important to remember that self care looks different for everyone and that is okay. I put together a list of things I plan to do this spring when I need a little pick me up or if I'm looking for just a little more happy in my life. I hope you enjoy!

1. Move your body. Even if you just have a dance party in your living room or stretch your legs at the end of a long day, moving your body will make you feel happy
2. Communicate with the people in your life. If something has been bothering you lately, however big or small, communicate it with that person and you no longer have to carry it around with you
3. Spend time outside. Whether it's gardening, walking or just sitting on your front step. Feeling the fresh air and the sounds of nature can be very calming
4. Take a long hot bath and do some pampering
5. When my brain feels full of thoughts and ideas I like to do a journal entry where I "brain dump" every single thing that runs through my mind. Then I throw the journal entries away
6. Go for a long walk and listen to music or a podcast
7. Learn something new! Research something you've been interested in lately or borrow a couple of books from the library on the subject
8. Revamp your wardrobe. I love to buy a couple of new things to wear for spring that get me excited about my closet
9. Don't be afraid to ask for help in certain areas of your life when you need it
10. Read! I have been obsessed with trying to read as many books as I possibly can lately
11. Say no to any plans that feel really overwhelming or plans that you dread fulfilling
12. Be creative. Paint or a draw a picture, even if it looks horrible just throw it out when you're done
13. Go plant shopping
14. Try to cook or bake something from scratch
15. Do absolutely nothing. I love to come home after a long day, maybe light a candle, and just sit on my couch with the dog and just do nothing

Are you enjoying spring so far? What do you do during this season to take care of yourself?
