DIY Vegan Hot Chocolate

Cold weather always makes me crave sweets more than any other time of the year.  Is there anything better than a cup of hot chocolate on a chilly day? The answer is, nope! One thing about hot chocolate, whether you buy mix at the store or order one from Starbucks, there is always a TON of sugar and dairy which always just makes me feel bleh.  Luckily, I have made my own super easy recipe that is totally healthy but also super delicious.  Enjoy!

Ingredients
1 cup non-dairy milk
1.5 tbsp cocoa powder
2 tbsp maple syrup
Pinch of cinnamon
Pinch of salt

Directions

1. Heat the milk in a pot, on your stove top at low-medium heat.  Make sure to continually stir with a whisk so the milk doesn't burn

2. When the milk begins to steam add the rest of your ingredients into the pot and whisk until combined.  You can add as little or as much cocoa powder as you like depending on how strong you like it.

3. When the hot chocolate has been simmering for about 2-3 minutes and it's at the temperature you'd like take the pot off the stove and pour into your favourite mug. And that is it!

What's your favourite way to make hot chocolate from scratch?
