I'll be the first to say it, I am a clean freak. Spring cleaning isn't even really a thing for me because I've been cleaning, organizing, and downsizing all year long lol. But if you are not this type of way and you feel like this new season brings a sense of needing to organize your life, then this post is for you! I think that spring cleaning isn't just about clearing away the cob webs from your space but it's also about clearing away cob webs in every single aspect of our lives. I created a little guide below on all the ways we can freshen up our lives this spring! Enjoy.
Home & Space
Take a walk through your home/space and make a list of the areas that stress you out or are simply not working for you. Whether it's a cluttered kitchen table or an old lumpy chair that's an eye sore, whatever it may be figure out a solution for it
Finances & Budgeting
Sit down and take a look at your financial situation. Maybe you need to restructure your debt repayment plans, or you need to cancel that credit card you never use anymore. It's also a good idea to make a rough estimate of your monthly budget. Maybe you realize you've been over spending in one area of your life and all it takes is a few easy steps to correct.
Health
Make any appointments that you've been putting off for a while like going to the dentist or seeing an eye doctor. Maybe you need to book an appointment with your therapist or see a massage therapist for your sore body. Whatever it is, take care of it! Checking in with ourselves mentally is also a great idea. I recently downloaded an app call Youper which allows you to check in on your emotions and mental health throughout the day. It's awesome and I highly recommend!
It's also important to take some time to care for yourself physically whether that's painting your nails, getting your hair cut, replacing your favourite jeans that you ripped or putting on a face mask. These small and simple things will help you feel re-energized and happy.
Relationships
Tending to our relationships is something we can often neglect when we are busy or when we are feeling low in life. Maybe you haven't seen a close friend or a relative in a long time and it's time to set up a coffee date. Or you and your significant other haven't spent quality time together in a while. This is a great time to really nourish and love all the people in your life who support you. This also includes relationships with ourselves! Take the night off, stay in and watch your favourite movie and have a good ol' fashioned date with yourself.
Social Media
Go through all of your social media accounts and unfollow anyone who makes you feel icky. Try following people who inspire you and lift you up and let go of anything that doesn't do this for you. We underestimate how social media can impact our lives and our mental health, when we are seeing and absorbing the same type of information every day. Luckily, we have a choice to choose what kind of information this is.
The Fun Stuff
Do something lovely and fun! Whatever makes you feel happiest in life, carve out some time to do just that. Take your dog on a long walk, buy some pretty flowers for yourself, or go driving with the windows down and listen to a new playlist. Make time for fun in your life.
